Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 11, 2026
I Did My Chores ("we," "us," or "our") is operated by Joanna Hodge, She Got Sheets. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our web application at ididmc.com.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you use I Did My Chores:
- Parent account information: Email address, password handled by Firebase Authentication, Google account details if you choose Google sign-in, and optional parent contact information such as phone number.
- Household settings: Household name, pay period settings, chore rules, earning caps, approval preferences, notification preferences, PTO/days off, and compensation model settings you configure.
- Kid profiles created by parents: Kid names or nicknames, PIN codes, avatar colors, optional phone numbers, and optional birthday month/day used for birthday features. Parents control this information.
- Chore and dashboard data: Chore names, point or dollar values, chore schedules, completion status, submissions, approval history, manual past work, PTO records, payout history, and related notes.
- Proof photos: Images uploaded as proof of chore completion. Parents should instruct children to upload only chore-related photos and avoid faces, school identifiers, addresses, documents, or other unnecessary personal details.
- Technical and usage data: Basic app activity, browser/device information, logs, error information, and security events used to operate, debug, protect, and improve the app.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To operate and maintain your household account and chore tracking data
- To send email notifications about chore submissions (if enabled)
- To process subscription payments through Stripe
- To respond to contact form inquiries
- To prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, and improve the app based on usage patterns
3. Children's Privacy
I Did My Chores is designed for parents and guardians to set up and manage. Children do not create full accounts. Kids may use a household link and PIN selected by the parent to see chores and submit chore completion updates.
Parents decide what information to enter for each child. The app may process child-related information such as a kid name or nickname, PIN, optional birthday month/day, optional phone number, chore records, and proof photos. Parents are responsible for getting any consent needed within their household and for deciding whether the app is appropriate for their children.
We do not knowingly ask children to provide email addresses, mailing addresses, school information, payment information, or social media profiles. We do not use children's information for advertising. Parents may review, correct, export, or request deletion of household and child profile information by contacting us.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Firestore and Authentication), which provides industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit. Payment information is processed by Stripe and is never stored on our servers.
Access to parent dashboard data is restricted to authenticated parent accounts. Kid access is limited to PIN-verified sessions on the household link. No online service can guarantee perfect security, so please use strong passwords, protect household links and PINs, and avoid uploading sensitive images.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We also do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not rent household or child information to marketers.
We share information only as needed to operate the service, including with:
- Firebase/Google: For authentication, database storage, file storage, hosting-related infrastructure, logs, security, and Cloud Functions
- Stripe: For payment processing (paid plans only)
- Netlify: For website hosting, routing, and form submissions
- As required by law or to protect our legal rights
If we add new vendors that materially change how your personal information is used, we will update this Privacy Policy.
6. Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or maintain business records. You may request deletion of your account and associated household data at any time by contacting us at jmhodgefl@gmail.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days unless we need to retain limited records for legal, security, billing, or backup purposes.
7. Your Rights
You may request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of your personal data. You may also ask whether we sell or share personal information; our current answer is no. To exercise these rights, contact us at jmhodgefl@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
8. Cookies
We use local storage and similar browser storage to save preferences such as theme, app state, and authentication session state. Firebase and Google sign-in may use cookies or similar technologies for authentication and security. No advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels are used.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
